Hello My wonderful Students!
It is that time of the year! It's the start of 2020 and it is time for us to take a look at economics. Everyone likes money right, well not everyone but at least we can all agree that Cash Rules Everything Around Me. At any rate before we take a look at economics and personal finance it is important we warm up our brains after this break.
In the spirit of warm up it's time to take a challenge, the Repurpose Me Challenge
We can't start with just one challenge. The next short challenge revolves around a question. You can answer this question in anyway you want as long as you provide the following:
Question to answer: Does money liberate us? Or Can Money buy Freedom?
You have been working on your final paper all semester. What is left now is to understand how to make things connect in a logical way. Remember you are telling your story to someone. If you need some help in how to organize your paper here is a suggested outline. Remember you can always create your own structure this is just a suggestion.
There has been a major change to this part of the presentation. Given the finals time period we have during the day of we will not be able to hear everyone's final presentation. (SAD AND HEARTBREAKING I KNOW)
You will need to turn in a final powerpoint as part of your final. The structure of your final PowerPoint will follow the structure of the final paper. However it must not go over 10 min. Your time limit is 8-10 min. For those of you who would still like to present, I will allow 10 people from each class to present. Those who present will get the grade for the presentation plus 50 extra credit point. If you have a lower grade in the class, I would encourage you to present.
If no one presents I will choose 10 people at random to present on monday using the randomizer to choose.
Your final paper and powerpoints will be due on MONDAY DECEMBER 16 2019 at the end of class. Given the nature of the final and the time we have to grade them there will be no late finals excepted!!!!
Please take the time to fill out this form that will allow me to create a list of all of your topics and allow you to work with folks with similar projects.
Today you will be looking deeper into your community problem. You will look at Laws and regulations, Government Policies, the attitudes the community has about your problem, the political climate and the root causes of your problems in a effort to connect the dots and create a better understanding of what goes into your problem. This will also help you understand what would be the best course of action to solve this issue.
Below is the reading for today. I ask you to create the charts and tables on a separate sheet of paper and have them done by end of day of the next class. It is in your best interest to finish this quickly as our next step is to reach out to organization and individuals who are working on solving this problem in the community.
You must have at least ONE source for each section. Remember to record your sources so you can add them to your works cited page later.
