Final: Bringing it all together.

12/10/2019

Final Paper:
You have been working on your final paper all semester. What is left now is to understand how to make things connect in a logical way. Remember you are telling your story to someone. If you need some help in how to organize your paper here is a suggested outline. Remember you can always create your own structure this is just a suggestion.
Background
  • Community information
    • Demographic information about the community. (location, ages, number of people, how much money they make etc.)
  • Description of the problem and how it impacts your chosen community.
  • What is the context of the problem?
    • How does the demographic information about your community connect to the problem? Is it a result of this information? ( ex. Low wages, high cost of living leading to houselessness in Los Angeles.)
    • How is the cycle of oppression and all those connected terms seen and lead to your community problems.
      • How does this cycle of oppression impact why or why you did not chose to ask the government for help.
    • Which part of government is responsible and should respond to this issue. Will they?

Solution
  • What is your solution and action plan
  • Why did you decide to use the government or not use the government?
  • Name at least one organization you could contact to complete this action plan.

Final PowerPoint:
There has been a major change to this part of the presentation.  Given the finals time period we have during the day of we will not be able to hear everyone's final presentation. (SAD AND HEARTBREAKING I KNOW)

HOWEVER!!!!!
You will need to turn in a final powerpoint as part of your final. The structure of your final PowerPoint will follow the structure of the final paper. However it must not go over 10 min. Your time limit is 8-10 min. For those of you who would still like to present, I will allow 10 people from each class to present. Those who present will get the grade for the presentation plus 50 extra credit point. If you have a lower grade in the class, I would encourage you to present.
If no one presents I will choose 10 people at random to present on monday using the randomizer to choose.

Your final paper and powerpoints will be due on MONDAY DECEMBER 16 2019 at the end of class. Given the nature of the final and the time we have to grade them there will be no late finals excepted!!!!
