Now that you have identified the problems you have in your community it is time to prove that these issues are a problem. In order to prove that something is a problem there is a criteria list to help you identify the needed evidence.

Here are the criteria you may consider when identifying community problems:
  1. The problem occurs too frequently (frequency)
  2. The problem has lasted for a while (duration)
  3. The problem affects many people (scope, or range)
  4. The problem is disrupting to personal or community life, and possibly intense (severity)
  5. The problem deprives people of legal or moral rights (equity)
  6. The issue is perceived as a problem (perception)
This last criterion -- perception -- is an important one, and can also help indicate readiness for addressing the issue within the community.

You will need to find one quote for each of the 6 criteria mentioned above. You will notice that each page of the graphic organizer is dedicated to one of the 6 criteria of a problem. You must find evidence that matches the criteria on each page. For example page 2 is dedicated to Frequency, so your quote hat to prove that the problem happens often in your chosen community.

Once you have found your evidence, quote or fact you will write it in the "Evidence / Quote / Fact" box

You will then place the source information in the "where is the quote from" box. Here you place the website, author and date of publishing of your information
